Dua Lipa is an English artist and singer. She was born on 22 August 1995 within London United Kingdom. After a stint as an actress and model she was signed to Warner Bros Records. She released her debut self-titled album in 2017. The album reached 3rd place in the U.K. Albums Chart and released eight singles which included Be the One I.D.G.A.F as well as the U.K. number-one song New Rules which peaked at sixth in the United States. Lipa was awarded the Brit Awards in 2018 as a British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act. Her album has been certified as platinum across several countries around the world. Dua Lipa was born on 22nd August 1995, in London in the UK to Kosovo Albanian Anesa Rexha, and Dukagjin Lipa. By virtue of her maternal grandmother, she has Bosnian descent. Additionally, her ancestors are from the Kosovo town Peja. Lipa's grand-fathers were both history professors. She is the sister of Rina Lipa, and has one younger brother, named Gjin. Lipa was heavily influenced by her father, who is also the lead guitar player and the singer of the Kosovan group Oda. The band was heavily influenced by their father's music, which included his compositions as well as songs by artists like David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead Stereophonics Stereophonics. Lipa started singing around the age of five. The Sylvia Young Theater School was where she first began singing when she turned nine.
